Notes about Booking our Quartet |
| The following notes are important guidelines to consider when you book our string quartet. |
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Tell your Function Manager or minister to expect us! On occasions we’ve arrived at venues and no one has known anything about us! We will require 4 armless chairs so we would appreciate it if you could ask your venue manager to have these ready. Decide beforehand where you want us to position ourselves and let us or your venue manager know. |
| Space : We have become experts in arranging ourselves into all manner of spaces. Obviously the more space we have the better but as a guide, we like to place the 4 chairs in an arc. |
WEDDING CEREMONIES |
MUSIC it would be extremely helpful if at least 1 copy (ideally 2-3) of the Order of Service could be set aside for us so we are clear on the format of your ceremony. |
| PROCESSIONAL We will require someone to give us a signal to let us know the bride is ready to walk down the aisle. Please ensure that you nominate a person e.g. Minister, Function Manager, and that they will be able to see us clearly to give the signal. On seeing the signal we will stop playing at a suitable break in the piece being played (this may take a minute of so), and then start to play the processional piece. |
HYMNS We will play an introduction before starting each hymn. It is vital that we know how many verses to play for!! Please indicate the number of hymns on the booking form. Also please bear in mind that some hymns have more than one tune e.g. Love Divine and All Things Bright and Beautiful, which is why on the booking form we ask for the hymn number. We don't want to turn up on the day and play the wrong one! |
SIGNING OF THE REGISTER / RECESSIONAL If it is not going to be obvious when you are about to sign the register/walk out, please get someone to give us a signal of when to start playing. Also bear in mind that depending on where we are sitting, if the congregation is standing we might not be able to see you! |
RECEPTION MEALS We normally play as guests enter the room and take their seats as well as the meal itself. Key points it would be helpful to know include
We can finish and leave just before the speeches, if at the end of the meal, or stay seated and continue playing as your guests depart to the bar. Helping us with the above points will aid us to make our part of your wedding run as smoothly as possible. |
